Working From Home Poses Unique Challenges

By James Angell

More and more people are turning to work-from-home jobs to add some extra spending money to their households or even to provide their entire income. There are so many options out there that almost anyone can find an opportunity that will work well for them. However, as with any work situation, working from home comes with its own unique challenges.

There are a lot of great rewards to working from home. How many of your friends who work in office buildings are able to attend a conference call in their pajamas, work with the family dog at their feet, or avoid childcare costs? When you work from home, all those perks are yours -- and so are the obstacles.

One of the greatest obstacles work-from-home professionals face is self-discipline. There are days when just getting yourself motivated to sit down at your desk is difficult let alone sticking to your work schedule. As with any job, there will be days that you just don't feel like working. However, when you work from home, there's no boss watching to make sure you come in to work, so letting things slide can be all too easy.

Of course, sometimes sticking to your schedule is difficult because of family matters. If one of your reasons for working from home is to reduce or avoid childcare costs, you may find yourself struggling to get your work done because of the needs of your children. People with young children should look for work-from-home opportunities with very flexible hours so that they can work when the children are sleeping or when their spouse is available to care for them.

While having your family around is great, like many individuals who don't work in a traditional job, you might find yourself feeling lonely. As much as you love them, your family can't meet all your social needs. It can be truly difficult not to have other adults around to converse with throughout the day.

Though family members can be disruptive to your work day, your home itself can also provide distractions. You'll be amazed at how alluring laundry can be when you're having trouble focusing on your job. And, your phone will ring. Unfortunately, many friends and family members won't understand that even though you work from home, you still need to work!

Which brings me to another challenge -- lack of respect for what you do. When you work from home, many people will assume you don't work at all or that what you do is very simple and not "a real job." You'll find yourself constantly explaining what you do or letting people know that although you're home to answer the phone or attend your child's school concert, you do still work and you have a schedule to maintain.

Still another challenge for many people is the inability to organize both their time and their workspace. When you work from home it's important to have a specific place to perform your work. You shouldn't expect yourself to be able to work efficiently and with determination at your dining room table. Instead, set aside a pleasant space that you can look forward to going to and leave behind when your work time is up. Your workspace will also need to be organized in a manner that lets you focus on your work and find everything you need to do it easily.

Although the challenges to working from home are great, there are challenges in traditional jobs that you're not likely to face in your home office. For example, you won't find any gossip going on around your water cooler and the family dog isn't likely to engage in office politics. And, if you need an hour off to go to school and have a surprise lunch with your child, you can do that.

In truth, the benefits of working from home probably far outweigh the challenges. And, if you take the time to really think about what you're doing and how you can improve your process, there are some very simple ways to overcome the obstacles.

Work At Home Based Business Opportunities Needs Presold Persuasion

By Juhani Tontti

What is preselling? Well, I see it as an ability to draw the reader through the AIDA process, to get attention, then interest, then desire and finally to make him to take action. Actually it is very emotional process, building positive feelings towards the upcoming landing page.

1. Preselling Uses Emotions.
Successful marketers of the work at home based business opportunities know that all decisions are made by emotions and that when you train "how to pre sell" you have to make the prospect feel good or laugh to be able to build up the relationship, which is needed before the deal. This is the most important thing in getting targeted web site traffic!

2. If You Can Make The Reader To Laugh, You Will Win.
Another reason, why the meaning of the emotions is increasing is that, when products have become more and more alike, the emotional relations with the prospects solve who will win the deal. This means that the rational benefits are not a must but can be replaced by the emotional handling, i.e. by making the reader to feel good after he has read your article or even only the title.

3. The Skill To Persuade Is An Art.
All people like when somebody can make them laugh or feel good. Think about that. Somebody makes you feel good for free. That is great. Now the reader is totally open, he trusts you. And he wants more. He is among targeted web site traffic people. Open to your work at home based business opportunities.

4. Truth Well Told Is The Best Copystyle.
Despite of all fun and good mood, preselling cannot build up wrong image of what is coming. If the prospect will disappoint, he will remember that forever. And especially if your pre selling has made him feel good and laugh and then later he will see something totally different.

5. Use Personal Style.
When you can joke about your own errors and mistakes during your early days as a home business owner, your prospect feels that you belong to the same club. Never present yourself as a superior human being, people do not want that kind of relationships.

6. Reading Must Be Easy And Fun.
You can recall the style of advertising copywriters or Hollywood movie writers. They are always positive and very emotional. Most of them like everyday, small things, which they use in their writings. They know, that they have to make people like what they have done.

7. Build Curiosity.
When you succeed to make your prospect to laugh and have fun, he wants more about your work at home based business opportunities. In his mind he is prepared to see what you are selling. However do not reveal that, that is the task of the offer.

8. Write About Your Offer, Almost.
Yes, almost. The idea is to give a hint to the prospect but not the exact offer. However the writer must guide the reader into the approximate world of what is coming and avoid building disappointment. Underpromise and overdeliver.

9. The Author Box Is An Ad.
When you presell, use the Author Box as a text ad. Every word is important, because the target is that the prospect will click the link of your landing page. The Box text is a climax of the preselling, which has to lead the reader to take action.

Freelance Work At Home Basics - 3 Ways to Build Client Trust While Working From Home

By John Purfield

One of the best consulting assignments in the world is when your top client (i.e. your main source of income) has you perform all the work from your home office. However, while it is very optimal to work from home and you have advantages over people that commute to the office, you do have to consider building and keeping client trust.

After all, consulting is a very simple concept: you are paid to get results through completing projects for your client. Otherwise you are not worth the money the client pays you. Building client trust makes consulting assignments easier and also provides opportunity for more work. If you want to build trust with your client then try these three practices (or exercises) to build trust through exceptional service.

Be available most of your client's business hours

One sure fire way of gaining the trust of your client is to be available during your client's business hours. Remember that most corporate offices operate and communicate with their clients and vendors from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm Monday through Friday. Being available during business hours not only builds trust with your client but can also be rewarding in the form of more work.

Businesses always need to be supported during the work day. You never know when you're needed as a resource other than the project you're working on. You become part of the team as you are establishing a presence with your client. You are becoming part of your client's support system. Most clients want to trust their consultants. Your goals should always be an integral part of your client's team.

The best ways to be available for your client are to provide a mobile phone number, and be on Windows Live Messenger and AOL Instant messenger. If you plan to be away during the business day, make sure to let your client know via the messenger status window. Using instant messenger programs is becoming very popular among businesses, which leads me to our next practice to build client trust.

Learn to work with distraction

One thing about any work day whether you are working from home or not is the fact that there will always be distractions. This usually comes in the form of client requests or, if you're working from home, personal requests.

No one likes to be distracted from their projects. However, I would recommend that one of the best ways to work with distractions is to embrace them. However, some thought must go into the importance of the distraction.

Working on a project and juggling multiple clients can be trying at times. No matter what you are working on it seems you're destined to get calls from your clients. If a client is calling you during the day, your best bet is to take the call. If you look at it from your clients point of view, they have your call on their "to do" list. Meaning they are blocking time from their day to reach out to you. This call can mean anything from a simple question or more billable work. It's definitely worth it.

Try to finish the project you are working on before going to the next one

The main reason you are hired as a freelance consultant is to get the job done. Have you heard of the old saying "the proof of the pudding is in the eating"? This saying holds very true in the IT small business consulting world. So remember results get you more work.

So what's the best way to get results, you ask? If you are working on multiple projects, always work toward completing a project milestone before you work on another project. Always make your closest project due date your central point of your workday until it's completed. This will provide you and your client the mental boost necessary to show progress with your projects.

Hopefully you can see now why it's possible to be at a disadvantage while working from home. With the 3 methods mentioned above, you should be able to provide exceptional customer service to your client.

Mistakes Are Useful For The Online Home Business Owner

By Juhani Tontti

Because the online home business is relations between people, the mistakes belong to the picture. They are not dangerous, they are extremely useful. Love them!

1. The Idea Of The Online Home Business Is Learning By Doing.
Learning by doing is absolutely the best way to learn the mastery of online home business. The mistakes belongs to the nature of learning, like they belong to all training, like learning to ride a horse. Some falling from the saddle will teach more than any ebook. And you do not make success on the first try. But so what, a new try!

2. Is Mistake A Right Term?
What is a mistake? Is it a zero result from the online home business promotion or what? Well, if your campaign brings no result and you know why, it is a greatest learning you can imagine. You just have learnt how not to make money on the internet. The worst mistake, a useless one, is the mistake, which you cannot analyze why it happened.

3. If You Avoid To Make Mistakes, You Will Stop You Trying.
No action means no income. No income means no motivation, which means stop of the whole operation. So all things support the fact that mistakes are useful, a source of the success. The attitude not to make a mistake is a fear, which is absolutely negative feeling and thus do not belong to the attitude arsenal of a successfull online home business marketer.

A trial and error system has been my own way to learn the marketing techniques. More than once it has happened that what did not worked yesterday, works today. That is a clear sign of the learning process.

You see, the online home business market is like a human being, it has different moods on different days. The more you do, the more results you will get. This is simple business! In the online home business one promotion is nothing, but a group of promotions brings massive results. So some mistakes there have not so big impact.

4. The Biggest Stupidity Is To Make The Same Mistake Repeatly And Wait For Different Results.
Yeah! Can it be more stupid thing than to repeat the old mistakes and wondering, why the results do not improve.

Mistakes are a part of learning, a great source of success and the most important source of your mental growth. This is very hard to understand and then to admit. The mistakes are useful, we do not have to be afraid of them. We have to learn from them.

5. The Fear To Make An Error Makes It Impossible To Win.
Trying without prejudice means trying by relaxed mindset. That is the method how I have found out the best ways to make money on the internet. Trusting my intuition. Doing, doing and doing. Many times planning is good, but many times too detailed planning kills the ideas and motivation. Then it is useful just to trust the intuition and, wau, everything goes absolutely well.

Okay, there is one mistake, which you have to learn to avoid, when you try to make money on the internet by the online home business and that is: do not hurry in the beginning. The success comes, when the time is right. And it will be. So Just Do It.

Light Your Online Home Business Fire By The Daily Blogging

By Juhani Tontti

Blogging is a great tool to serve the visitors of your online home business site. You see, the customer service becomes more and more important in the marketing war. It is a great way to make a difference.

The nature of online home business is, that it is an information business. This means that your customers need fresh information as an ongoing flow. That means benefits for them.

The more useful tips they get, the more money they make online. Blogging will fulfil this need better than any other medium. It is like a personal diary of the blogmaster, where he shares his internet marketing information every day.

You may have founded that the personal messages work best online and blogging is one of the most effective methods for this. That means that the blogmaster puts himself into fire to make money on the internet. The target group will respect him more, when he honestly tells about the successes and failures in his blogposts.

They will see that there is a human being behind this online home business site, with all good and bad features.

1. The Daily Blogging Gives Fresh Kicks.
The daily blogging is a strong sign, that you as an online home business owner care about your readers and work hard following the market day and night. It is a strong brand builder, a sign of your commitment.

The daily blogging is a competitive edge, a strong image builder compared to the blogs which have the old content. The freshness is a trust factor. The blogging allows your visitors to comment your posts immediately, which makes that medium very interactive, which will tie the visitor mentally with your business and yourself.

2. The Community Gets The Message About The New Post By Pinging And RSS.
These two services makes blogging the quickest online home business medium, which can reach a lot of people in an extremely rapid time, even in seconds, and the message goes to thousands or tens of thousands of targeted people.

Your blog can also have a software, which tells you every single time, when another site backlinks to your blog and the url of that online home business site. These backlinks raise the search engine ranking of your site and bring direct, targeted traffic.

3.The Look Of Your Blog Can Be Customized Easily.
The blog must have a unique and different look to be able to build up the brand. The modern technology makes that easy. You can also easily change the template, just to make it look fresh and a new kind, a lot of templates are available and the change happens in seconds. Free of course.

When other bloggers will notice that you share a useful content every day, which they can use in their online home businesses, they will bookmark your blog and copy and paste your posts into their own blogs. This is very important, when you want to build a brand name.

4.The Optimized Blogposts Builds A Lot Of Backlinks.
As a daily blogger you are like the information wholesaler, who follows what happens online, pick the most useful topics and writes about them. And so many online home business marketers want to backlink to your blog. That means brand building and a nice targeted traffic. Great!

The internet is an information highway, where the useful bloggers are very respected, because they will dig from the overloaded information flow the useful things and write the ideas in their blogs for others. That is a real sharing! And it brings results!

Work At Home Program Precautions

By: Ryan Moran

Those looking to work at home are among the people that are most likely to get scammed for a lot of money. This seems contrary to thought, as many prospective home entrepreneurs have little money to invest. However, it is this fact that actually drives them to believe the promises made by a phony or less than admirable company.

Programs that promise to teach prospective entrepreneurs how to work for themselves make large amounts of money by convincing other people that their program will solve financial problems. This in and of itself is not underhanded or untrue; instead, it is simply making a claim about their own company. However, it is these stated claims that often convince an average person with no money to shell out thousands of dollars to sign up for the program. The logic is simply that if one can achieve the results that are claimed by the program, paying a few thousand dollars to sign up will pale in comparison to the success that can be experienced.

This is not to say that all work from home programs are not legitimate. Saying so would be categorically untrue. There are plenty of good programs that teach excellent ways to make money from home. However, many of these programs attempt to upsell the customer into buying additional resources that can be extremely expensive. While these additional materials may be of high quality, a customer should be very careful before agreeing to order programs that he or she previously did not intend to purchase.

For example, there are many work at home programs that are sold on the internet that cost between fifty and two hundred dollars. Many of these programs are completely reputable and are excellent educational resources. Within the program, however, it may (or may not) offer one on one coaching with a mentor who has excelled in the field. These types of services can cost thousands of dollars, but be completely unnecessary to the development of the individual's business. This, of course, does not mean that the resource is a scam, but any program that offers additional materials that cost thousands of dollars should be purchased with caution.

When searching to earn a living from home, work from home programs are often an excellent way to set the foundation for one's success. However, it is easy to fall prey to lofty claims made by these types of companies, and the purchase of expensive resources should be done with caution.

Cashing In On Your Spare-Time Interests

By: Darren Yates

Have you ever thought about earning a full time living from your hobbies? It doesn't matter if it's sports, crafts, or even trading merchandise - it's more than possible to earn a living with your hobbies - it's the major source of income for millions of people all over the world!

Sometimes what seems like a career actually begins as a hobby for someone. Many couples that are adept at home repairs have a hobby of investing property, fixing it up, and flipping it into a profit.

The key to making mounds of money from your hobby is to pick something that makes you happy. You may not enjoy home repairs like your neighbor. Maybe you have a passion for taking everyday things and making an extraordinary piece of art from them.

The best thing about profiting from your hobbies is that you're doing something that relaxes you and gives you joy in life. Not many people can say that about their jobs. In fact, most people in surveys would love to trade in their 9-5 corporate gigs for something more rewarding.

You don't have to be a degreed expert in a particular field to take advantage of what your hobbies have to offer. Your expertise is simply the time you've invested learning your craft.

If you'd love to turn your hobby into a money-maker, then you have to treat it like a business of sorts. You can't rely on people to just come up to you and hand over their money.

One way you can make money from your hobby is to simply sell the work that you do, if it's applicable to what your hobby is. If you make jewelry, then you can create a website where you sell it on the Net. If you write as a hobby, then you can launch a business ghostwriting for others.

But there's another way you can cash in on your hobbies - by teaching others what you know about it. You see, if you're interested in something as a relaxing, enjoyable pastime, then chances are there are thousands, if not millions, of other people who have the exact same interests as you do - and are willing to pay for more information!

Think back to when you first started dabbling in your hobby. Did you read books about it or visit websites to learn from others? From knitting to golfing, people pay for information that helps them enjoy their hobbies even more - and you can be the resource they need to make their dreams happen!

Why Digital Infoproducts Are So Great To Sell?

By: Almin Cehajic

Digital infoproducts are great for several different reasons. As a business person you can make money for many years off a digital infoproduct if you create one that can be updated and is not a fad product. Let's take a close look at digital infoproducts and what makes them so great.

Digital products should be informational and if you do it right you should make it as entertaining as possible. This gives you the opportunity to have blast creating it. That in itself is one reason people like to sell digital infoproducts. They are fun to make.

When you look at a traditional product in the brick and mortar business many of them require a warehouse to store their products before they are unsold. Not so with digital products. Your inventory is a downloadable book or file. This makes it easy to sell, collect and deliver your product as well. You have no shipping charges on digitally delivered products.

Developing an infoproduct online does not require a team of R & D people. With a good word processing program and your computer you can do everything by yourself and in a very short time.

One thing nice about the internet today is the number of people available to research and write information. Many people do not like to write and you may be one of them. You can be involved to the level you want and then hire the rest. This is not unusual. Many great books have been co-authored or written by a professional.

Here are a few basic points to keep in mind when creating your product:

1. Make it entertaining. Even the most boring subject in the world can become entertaining if you do it right. Certainly adding humor where appropriate is good. Adding drama in the story line can help keep your audience involved.

2. Solve a problem. More people come to the internet for information to solve a problem than almost anything else. If you remind them how much pain they are in, you stand an excellent chance of making a sale for your digital infoproduct.

3. Narrow down your market. As people search online they are using what are called long tail keyword phrases. An eBook on how to make money using your computer to sell digital infoproducts will generate more interest than an ebook on how to make money online.

4. One old sales trick that still works today on the internet is to provide samples. If you have an audio product let your visitor listen to part of it as an enticement to make a sale. Grocery stores still give away food samples as you are in the store to get you to buy their product. This is a tactic that will work for your information product also.

One important point to remember when you are setting the price for your product. The product must be worth the price you are charging for it. This is so basic that many people forget it.

If you over price all you are going to get is refund requests. Although it certainly is easy to process a request online it is no fun to do. The number one reason people request a refund is they are not satisfied the product did what they thought it would.

You can minimize this by under promising and over delivering. Having a quality product is the main key. Another thing you can do is offer resell rights as a bonus to enhance the main product. By offering resell rights as a bonus you will not only increase your direct sales but also ensure your product's viral effect.

As you look at digital infoproducts you can quickly see the potential they offer anyone to develop and make money with. We live in the digital information age so you might as well take advantage and profit from that where you can.

Things You Need To Consider To Prepare Yourself Mentally For Starting A Business

By: Gregg Hall

People say that starting your own business is difficult. Guess what? They're not kidding. Starting a business, in many ways, is a lot like having a child - and would you just have a child without thinking it through first? Before you get started, there are lots of things you need to think about and discuss with anyone you can.

Can You Afford to Fail?

You might have heard the old saying 'only gamble what you can afford to lose'. Well, however you approach it, starting your own business is still gambling. A massive percentage of businesses fail in their first year. If your financial situation is such that you agonize over every small amount you spend, starting a business is probably a bad idea.

Put it this way: do not expect to succeed. Expect that you will fail, and always try your hardest not to. You'll be pleasantly surprised if things go your way. Note that this doesn't mean that you shouldn't believe in yourself and your business - simply that you have to realize the kind of odds you're up against, and stay realistic.

Will You Stick at It?

You can't get halfway through all this and have a sudden change of heart, or feel like you're doomed to fail. All successful business spend plenty of time doing badly before they start to pick up. You need to prepare yourself for a steady stream of failure being slowly replaced by success. Don't expect the world all at once.

Could You Take the Stress?

Starting a business is one of the most stressful things you can do. It will affect you mentally, physically and emotionally. You need to be strong to deal with this kind of stress, and you need to have someone to turn to for support.

Are You a Survivor?

There are some people who always seem to make it in the end, regardless of what life throws at them. You need to be the kind of person whose response to things going wrong is to work harder and get it fixed, not someone who cries and goes into hiding.

Many entrepreneurs say that this, more than anything, is the secret of success. You need to be a 'never say die' kind of person. You need to be always ready to try again, no matter what gets thrown at you. Remember that it's not when things start to go wrong that you fail - you haven't failed until you've given up.

Be Prepared to Work Hard.

If you've been doing a standard nine-to-five job, you're probably used to a world where it's someone else's responsibility if the work doesn't get done - you work as fast as you can for the hours you're told to, and if it's not done on time then it's the manager's fault for not hiring enough people. When you work on your own, though, there's no-one to blame - the buck stops where it starts, with you.

You Need to Satisfy Every Customer.

When you run a home business, you can't afford to lose any customers. You need to always be nice to them, trying to meet their needs. You have to remember that you're the most senior person they can talk to in this organization, and you have to act like it - when there's no-one other than you to handle complaints, you have to either give in to customers at every opportunity or watch them take their business elsewhere.

Do You Really Love What You Do?

If you don't love what you do, then sooner or later you're going to want to stop doing it - and when you run a home business, that's difficult. Besides, you can't run a home business if you're always sitting and thinking about how great it'll be when it's the weekend. No, the only way to succeed in home business is to be absolutely sure that you really love what you're doing. If you can think of another job you'd rather have, then you're in trouble.

Think of it this way: could you run up to someone on the street with a leaflet about your business, and tell them all about it in a way that would really leave an impression? It doesn't matter whether you actually could or not - if you think everyone will be interested, then, believe me, they will be.
